The screening took place in the Arts and Journalism Building for a crowd of students, faculty, and fans! It was then followed by a brief discussion between the audience and individuals involved in the production of the movie, including director Morgan Mead.

  • Accepted to the Tacoma Film Festival coming up in October!
  • Accepted to the International Filmmaker Festival AND nominated for
    • Best Picture of the Festival
    • Best Director - Morgan Mead
    • Best Actor in a Leading Role - Doug Jones
    • Best Actress in a Supporting Role - Catherine Hicks
    • Best Soundtrack - Rick DiGiallonardo

The range of festivals we’ve been accepted to is very exciting, and we are thrilled with all of the nominations we’ve received for the International Filmmaker Festival.  Wish us luck!

Also, we’ve got big news: our first film festival acceptance!!!  We are an official selection for the 2009 Route 66 Film Festival and we won the award for Best Feature Comedy!!!!  The festival will take place this September.

Our hope with this poster is to show the more dramatic side of the film and to reflect an important element of the story: change. We definitely aren’t getting rid of our first poster, but we hope that this poster will compliment it and show another dimension of the film.

Also, our big news this week: If you attended the screening, you may have noticed that there was a new t-shirt design available at the event. We decided to unveil the new design that night, and have now made it available for sale through the website at http://www.mynameisjerry.com on the merchandise page.

 

We are calling this the “Doug Jones Design” because we had the shirts printed a special way (called garment printing - printed by EmbroidMe) that allowed us to include a full-color photo of Doug in the design.  This means they cost a little more than our last shirts, but we just had to put the film’s star on a shirt!

My name is Jessica and I’ll be taking over as the My Name is Jerry blogger.  What I’d like to share with you today are the survey results from the screening.  Around 450 people filled out surveys, so there was a lot of great infromation to cover!

We asked everyone to rank the following on a scale of 1-5 (1 = Poor, 2 = Fair, 3 = Average, 4 = Good, 5 = Excellent).

  1. How would you rate the title?
  2. How would you rate the story?
  3. How would you rate the drama?
  4. How would you rate the comedy?
  5. How well did you relate with the characters?
  6. How would you rate the begriming?
  7. How would you rate the ending?
  8. How would you rate the poster art?
  9. How would you rate the overall film?
  10. Would you be likely to recommend this film?

What we found were that the overall scores were high!

And there didn’t seem to be a dramatic difference in ratings between age groups or sexes:

We also received a lot of great feedback from our focus groups, and based on everything we learned from both of these outlets, we’ve decided to create a new poster and trailer to reflect the more dramatic side of the film. The poster will be coming soon and we look forward to your feedback! Thank you again to all those who participated!
